Trash valet service in Mishawaka.
The Princess City runs its own collection department, on its own calendar. We run on that one — bins to the curb before your pickup, back after the truck.

Mishawaka is not South Bend, and your bins know it.
Plenty of people in Mishawaka work in South Bend, and somewhere along the way they pick up South Bend’s trash schedule by osmosis — from a coworker, a group chat, a neighbor who moved from the other side of the county line. Then a holiday lands, South Bend shifts, Mishawaka does its own thing, and a full tote sits in the garage for a week.
Mishawaka runs its own residential collection, with recycling on an every-other-week cycle and its own published holiday adjustments. Ours is the only calendar you need: we work off Mishawaka’s, so the difference stops being your problem.
Who collects
The City of Mishawaka handles residential collection itself, independent of South Bend’s routes and calendar.
The thing people miss
Mishawaka’s holiday shifts are its own. A South Bend delay doesn’t mean a Mishawaka delay, and vice versa.
Recycling
Every other week, like most of the metro — which means half the year the blue tote stays put and half it doesn’t.
A city of narrow streets and short driveways.
Mishawaka packs a lot of house into a modest lot in the older stretches. Around Battell, the Beiger blocks, and the streets running off Lincolnway, the walk from where the bins live to where the truck stops is short — but it’s a squeeze, and there’s nowhere to leave a tote where it isn’t in somebody’s way. Bins that get left out don’t just look bad, they block the sidewalk.
Out toward Normain Heights, Grandview, and the newer developments near University Park, it’s the opposite problem: more driveway, more distance, more reason not to want to do this at 6 a.m. in the rain.
Either way, the same rule applies — the totes are out when they need to be, and they’re gone from the curb the same day they’re emptied.
