Trashcan Toucan started with a thought I had after too many long shifts:
“I would gladly pay someone to take the trash bins to the curb and bring them back. Just handle it every week so I don’t have to think about it.”
At the time, I was working nights, long hours, and jobs that sometimes meant traveling out of state and coming home to another shift. When I finally got home, taking the bins out was easy to forget.
Sometimes they never made it to the curb, and the trash piled up until the following week. Other times, they went out—and stayed there for days.
It was a simple chore. But it still needed to happen on schedule, whether I had the time and energy for it or not.
That got me thinking about how many other people might want that same help. Someone working nights. A parent juggling a busy household. Someone who finds moving heavy bins difficult. A person looking for a thoughtful way to take something off their partner’s plate.
Different lives. The same chore coming around every week.
That’s why we started Trashcan Toucan.
We take your trash bins to the curb for pickup and bring them back afterward. Both parts of the job, because getting them out is only half of it.
